this popular launch faces East into the Chesapeake and will serve
as a substitute for the Mayo Beach launch.
Launch is located at
the south end of the village of Chesapeake Beach in Calvert
County MD

Directions: from Annapolis and Baltimore, take MD Rt 2 South to
Rt 260,
left (east) on Rt 260 4.4 miles to an end at Rt 261, right (south) on
Rt 261 1.15 miles and left into parking lot for the the launch. (Note
the left turn into the parking lot for the launch is just after
you see the 40 MPH speed sign (see FIG. 8) and just before you
reach the Chesapeake Village new development
from Washington DC, I495 beltway to exit 11, MD Rt 4 south to Rt 260,
Rt 260 east to Rt 261, Rt 261 south 1.15 miles and left into
parking lot for the launch.
There is a paved path to the beach from the parking lot which is about
500 ft long. If gate is open, drive to beach and drop off gear there and
return to park. If gate is locked, you must cart your gear the 500 ft
distance or you could drive to a gear drop off point. To get to the
gear drop off point, you must turn left off Rt 261 onto 13th street,
which is 0.9 miles south of the Rt 260/261 intersection or one-quarter
mile before the parking lot for the launch and one block beyond
Beach Elementary School. Travel East on 13th street to the end
and turn right onto B Street and travel to an end. You will descend
a steep hill to the gear drop off. You can not park at the gear drop off.
Simply return your car to the parking area and then walk to the beach
to get your gear.

Fees: $9 Memorial day to Labor day only for
non Calvert County Residents only
Amenities: port-o-potties, trash barrels
