Long Point

FIG. 1 view of pebbly launch area and light at Long Point

Long Point has a similar configuration to Myers Point, but appears to have fewer windsurfers.
If you are looking to get a way from it all, this launch may be it.  It is located located about 2 miles
south of Aurora on the east side of Cayuga lake, and the launch faces WSW

Directions:  from the north, travel thru the village of Aurora on NY Rt 90, and at the south side of
Aurora as you exit the village, bear right onto Lake Road across from the Aurora water pollution
control plant.  Travel 1.5 miles on Lake Rd and park entrance is on your right.  From the south,
travel north on NY 34B to King Ferry and turn left onto NY Rt 90 North.  Travel about 2 or 3
miles and turn left onto Lake Road at a top of a hill at a sign for the Winery.  Follow Lake
Road down the hill and then north for a total of 1.6 miles and turn left into park.

Fees:  the usual $7 during the summer and some weekends thereafter, free otherwise

Amenities:  picnic tables, bbq stands restrooms

Regulations:  I am uncertain whether you are allowed to drive on the dirt service road --
but in the off season, people do it -- good for gear drop-off as it reduces the gear carry
distance -- use your judgment or ask

Best Wind Directions:  S, SW, W, NW, N

Notes:  pebbly launch area on both sides of point, point can produce flat water on the
leeward side of the point, launch rarely used by windsurfers but is almost a
carbon copy of Myers point.  Really nice and pleasant!
