Meetups

Meetups are another form of electronic infrastructure used somewhat
by windsurfing communities in the Mid-Atlantic.  Meetup is found at
meetup.com, is centrally located in NYC, and is defined as a social
networking portal that facilitates offline group meetings.  Members
of a meetup group can post their profile for others to view, and
meetings at certain times and places occur where people show up
and meet each other.

Windsurf Resource coverage area:

Windsport Addicts -- located in NYC, has almost 200 members,
 is organized and active and provides both social and windsurfing
offline meetups in LI, NJ and the NYC area

Hollywood Pete's Windsurfing Adventure Group -- located near
Philadelphia, has 64 members, is organized and active and provides
for offline windsurfing meetups throughout southern New Jersey.

 Washington DC wait list -- as of Spring 2010, there are about 50 people
on a Washington DC windsurfing meetup waitlist, but no one has
volunteered yet to run the group.
