Sinepuxent bay launch (MD Rt 611)

This launch is located within Assateague State Park at the Sinepuxent bay
boating facility.  This launch site is about 7 miles south of Ocean City, MD
 
Directions: Take U.S. 50 East and cross bay bridge.  At 50/301 split, stay
 on Rt 50 E to Ocean city.  Follow U.S. 50 around Easton, Cambridge, and 
Salisbury.  Near Berlin, MD, get on U.S. Rt 113 South.  Travel about one 
mile and get onto MD Rt 376 East.  Travel 4 miles to an end at MD Rt 611.  
Turn right onto MD Rt 611.  Upon the approach of the Verrazano bridge,
you will pass a Visitor's center on your right and a small parking area
on your left.  Do not cross bridge.  Instead, make a left hand turn into
 the parking area just before bridge.

Alternate route: stay on U.S. 50 to MD Rt 611 etc.

 At this parking area in Assateague State Park (MD), you can sail in the
 Sinepuxent bay and launch from the place on the west(inland side) of the
 bay.  The launch and parking lot are on the north side of MD Route 611 just
 before you cross the bridge to go to Assateague Island.  At the foot of the
 bridge and facing east towards the island, the parking lot is on the left.


Windsurfers can launch from the field and sail in the bay.  When you face the
 water from this launch site, you are looking NE into the bay.  You can see the
buildings at Ocean City in the distance from this launch.  There is a $3
 parking fee for this facility.  Sign says "unprotected, no swimming", but it
 is OK to launch therefrom

Regarding Assateague Island on the other side of the bridge, the
 federal park and launches into Sinepuxent Bay therefrom, check 
out my Assateague Launch Page.  This MD Rt 611 launch is 
superior to that of the bayside Assateague launch only when 
1) the wind is out of the east or NE, 2) it is at low tide and you 
do not want to have to walk out to deeper water and/or 3)you 
do not want to pay a $15 entrance fee.

Regulations:  no glass, no fires, no alcohol, no overnight parking
 or camping, day use only, pay fee at honor box

Fees:  $3, $10 to use the boat ramp

Best Wind Directions:  N, NE, E and maybe SE and S
