Windsurf Issues
1.
Participation in windsurfing has been and is currently declining.
--Check
out
my History Page to see evidence of downsizing
2. Access to launch sites has been dwindling.
Read what windsurfers
in NJ are doing
to combat this problem at Lakes Bay Rec Org (LBRA)
and NJWWA.
Also, check out
my Windsurf Launches page.
3. Windsurf gear can be
bulky and expensive.--click
here to find out
where you can buy gear
4. Kiteboarding has drawn
windsurfers (actual and potential)
away from windsurfing.
Check out
the local Kiteboard scene at EastKB.
5. American windsurfers are not competitive--windsurfers
from
the U.S. rarely place in
the top half in any international competition
6. Over the decades, water
quality has improved. Essentially all
waterways, including
the
Potomac, are suitable for windsurfing,
except shortly after a heavy or
sudden rain.
FIG. I1
Howard Knight of Tidewater area of VA points to
a list
of politician's names
he wrote on his van. Mr. Knight is active
in Tidewater VA politics and advocates
for more windsurf
launch access

FIG. I2 view in late 2009 of access to some of the
Rocky
Point Launches being blocked by a local government.
Institutions, such as
BABA try to prevent or undo such actions
